zeynep jane kandur
Zeynep Jane Kandur has served on the administration of AK Party's main branch in Istanbul since February 2015. Prior to this position, she served as the Vice President of AK Party's Women's Branch, responsible for Foreign Affairs.
In addition to her political work Kandur is a freelance translator and journalist. She has provided commentary on Turkish affairs for news outlets such as Al Jazeera and World Bulletin, and has a weekly column in Daily Sabah. After the July 15 coup attempt Kandur gave over 100 interviews to media outlets from around the world.
Kandur has also been extensively involved in the non-profit sector. In her work with KADEM (Women and Democracy Association) she represented the organization at the United Nations in 2014 and prepared a short international film on democracy for International Women's Day. She also serves as the Coordinator of the Muslim Women's Historical Heritage Project for IGETEV (Human Development and Social Education Foundation).
Kandur has worked as an English language teacher for over 25 years and is currently working in the education field.
Originally born in London, Kandur graduated from University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. She later attended University of London, School of Slavonic and East European Studies. She moved to Turkey in the 1990s and is married with three children.
