AK Party Vice Chairman in charge of Foreign Affairs
Prof. Dr. Yasin Aktay, AK Party Vice Chairman in charge of Foreign Affairs, was born in Siirt in 1966. He graduated from the Middle East Technical University (METU) Department of Sociology in 1990. He also received his Master’s Degree (1993) and PhD (1997) from METU. He became Associate Professor in 1999 and Professor in 2005. From 1992 to 2012, he served as Research Assistant and Professor of Sociology at Selcuk University (Konya). Between 2001 and 2004 he delivered lectures and conducted research in several universities in the USA. He was the former editor of Tezkire (an academic monthly) being published since 1991 and also editor of Sivil Toplum which was published in 2002. Between February 2008 and February 2010 he was the host of a political program on Mehtap TV: “Tersi ve Yüzü” with Ferhat Kentel. His articles were published in several national and international journals and he supervised many academic projects. Currently he is serving at Yıldırım Beyazit University in Ankara and he is a columnist for Yeni Şafak Newspaper. He is also the Honorary Chairman of the Institute of Strategic Thinking (SDE).
