1. Building The Corps: The experience of MAS Service Corps (MSC)

In this workshop participants will learn how to launch a campaign locally and be part of the movement..
• The experience of MAS Service Corps (MSC): “A Divine Journey of Serving Our Community”
• Participants will learn how to start, develop and assess service programs in response to community needs
• Examples and assessment MSC projects such as Mission Health and the Refugees’ Center and the campaigns such as: National Humanitarian Day, Meat Drive, Back to School, Ramadan Outreach Season and the Udhiya Meat Drive.
2. Sustainable Social Enterprise: Models and Prospects

One of the major impediments for the growth of social enterprises is the lack of sustainable funding streams. It is therefore imperative for institutions to explore non-conventional avenues to achieve sustainability. The discussion will examine various contemporary and waqf-based models that social enterprises can venture for ensuring long-term support for their programs.
3. Activism 101: Faith over Fear & Justice for All
Sunday 12/26 10:00-11:00 am
Presented by: MAS Freedom Foundation
The session will cover the steps to build local coalitions for supporting social justice.
• Learning to use Islamic values in organizing social and economic justice.
• What Muslims can do to protect their status and legal rights?
4. Working with Local Resources: Case Studies of Mission Health & Barnabas Uplift
Sunday 12/26 3:45-4:45 pm
In this workshop you will learn ways to reach out to local resources and services providers. Participants will learn also how to foster partnerships across interfaith organizations and groups as each works diligently alongside to address community needs.
• Presentation of Mission Health case study as a pioneer project of MAS Service Corps and its partners. Mission Health provided uninsured, lower income, working Individuals with affordable access to preventative and primary health care. Having access to health care will help Mission Health participants achieve self-sufficiency.
• Barnabas Uplift represents unique partnership experience with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Catholic Church and the Muslim American Society. The project encourages individuals, families, and communities to become self-sufficient and to alleviate poverty in Iowa.
• Participants will exercise and practice the 5 tips on how to develop a successful project.
• Each participant will develop his/her own campaign and presented at the workshop.
